Today's the kind of day we need a Friday Funny [tm], so here it is. A Japanese musician is getting famous for playing alongside a Nintendo game.

And they say video games will rot your brain.

This is so great on so many levels.

First of all, you've got Koji Kondo's brilliant composition, which sounds equally at home played by a violinist in coat and tails as it does chirped out of a bare-bones synthesizer chip.

Then some brilliant musicianship from the violinist, shifting between background and incidentals on the fly, coordinating with a "bandmate" using a videogame controller. Everything absolutely pitch perfect and right on time

tapping on the body of the violin to simulate the "Mario in Pipes" sound was a particularly nice touch.

I love this crazy future we all live in.
