How to cross a street

St. Paul picked an interesting week to unveil a PSA on how to cross a street. Downtown St. Paul -- at least this afternoon -- was generally abandoned because of the construction for the light rail project.

But few other cities need guidance on crossing a street (which is the pedestrian version of being shown how to buckle your seat belt on an airplane) more than downtown St. Paul, where pedestrians stroll as if they're on Main Street USA at DisneyWorld.

Enforce laws against jaywalking? Sounds simple enough, but it didn't go so well a week or so ago in Seattle:

Wow... what footage...

Frankly: it might have been a little excessive but we can learn two things here:

1) They need to buddy up police in all cities.

2) You do not interfere with a police matter. Whether it's jaywalking (as is supposedly the case here) or a fight on the street. You let them police do their job and sort it out later.

I would add ...

3) Do not think that you can punch a cop and not get punched back.

Ditto on the Wow...
I'm in support of how the peace officers responded. Resisting obviously didn't help the ladies either. Of course the norms of my upbringing aren't necessarily the norm elsewhere. Way to go 5 - 0!
