Birther refuses order to deploy

Posted at 12:04 PM on April 15, 2010 by Bob Collins (10 Comments)

Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, a Bronze star recipient, is refusing to deploy to Afghanistan because he has not seen a copy of President Barack Obama's birth certificate.

But, according to CBS News, the Pentagon is dealing harshly with a member of the military refusing a direct order. He was stripped of a pass to enter the Pentagon and a government laptop computer. He has been told he'll be court martialed. And now he's a cause célèbre.

Does this guy need to hold it in his hands or something? They've already disproven this stupid theory about twenty times now. This is a case of sour grapes taken to the extreme.

Good grief.

Oh, come on. Has he seen the birth certificate of every President he's served under? And if he had brown skin, would stripping him of his pass to enter the Pentagon seem "harsh," or would it be just another measure necessary to keep our country safe?

Give me a break.

Why do fools fall in love and give birth to larger fools like this man?

They probably wouldn't let him take his tinfoil hat on deployment, either.

Have to agree with all the others. Wow, I bet this guy was bending over backwards to kiss W's hindquarters a couple of years ago. Let it go, its over.

Since when is desertion a good thing? People who ran to Canada during Vietnam were wrong. This guy is wrong, too.

Can't the man even google! The congress is one of the places that this could have been challenged and wasn't, and if they didn't start a hearing who would!

Terry Lakin will find out that beliefs and facts are two very different things and in the end his courts-martial will be his own public humiliation for believing something he can not prove. I would love to be there during the military trial and find out what facts he has, internet gossip? Let's face it no one will take the Birthers seriously until they win a case, but until then, they will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. The old GOP Confederacy, that is what these liars want, good luck with that.

Lakin has broken his oath of office and defied the chain of command. His career in the military is effectively over. He deserves a quick less-than-honorable discharge and a boot out the door. He is no longer fit to command or serve.
