I did better than usual this week -- nice trick on the number of reactors (as opposed to the number of plants). Extra credit: where was the first nuclear power plant in MN?

Nine on no hints.

This has to be a trick question, David Z.. It implies that it wasn't in Red Wing or Monticello.

I'm stumped.

The power plant currently burning refuse in Elk River has had a storied history. It was the among the first commercial nuclear power plants built, but was a refurbishment of an earlier oil burning plant. It was remodeled as a nuclear plant in the early 1960's, and shut down just a few years later. I believe that it may have been the first nuclear power plant to be decommissioned and then fully cleaned up.

Prairie Island went online is 1973, Monticello in 1971.

7/15 with no cheats, but the funniest part was I got 4 questions wrong when I was sure I knew the answer and was well aware of the news story.
You are a mean one, Mr. Newscut!

Nine.

I like degree of difficulty!

But, no questions about "Collins" on Almanac last night?

For the record, the only DFL House member to vote against the GAMC override was Majority Leader Tony Sertich, which was procedural, so he could lay the bill on the table, in the hope that just 3 Republicans would realize what they'd done was disingenuous by voting against the same bill they'd voted for a few days prior.
