What's next in Iran?

Posted at 6:22 PM on June 20, 2009 by Bob Collins (0 Comments)

I'm not sure where we'd be without YouTube as the (so far) mini revolution continues. Based on today's dispatch's, the Iranians are not listening to the hardliners.

It's a country that appears to be coming apart. A suicide bomber struck near a shrine to Ayatollah Khomeini.

"This could be used by the Islamic Republic, by the government, to try to regroup its social basis of support, to try to imply that what is going on today has gone beyond the dispute between factions, and they are now challenging the basis of the Islamic Republic itself," Iran scholar Mohsen Milani told the Los Angeles Times.

And police used tear gas to break up protests against an election they say was stolen. The video is graphic:

President Obama condemned the crackdown and said "the world is watching."
