Senator Larry Pogemillers Senate Majority Leader, and Rep. Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Speaker of the Minnesota House are on Midday with Gary Eichten. The Legislature is down to its last few days and the annual stand-off with the governor is brewing.
Why not join in and discuss what you hear? Listen here.
Please, please preserve funding for education. I usually don't support the Governor (on anything!), but I do in terms of education funding. Isn't it true that health and human services is primarily funded by the Federal Government? Our schools are hurting. When will we come up with a dedicated funding source for public education? When will the government fund all of the unfunded mandates?
This is getting ridiculuous. We need another Minnesota Miracle!
I am a registered nurse case manager with a home health care agency in Rochester who provides medication management for chronically mentally ill clients. Due to budget cuts the frequency of visits, previously, as often as daily, have been reduced to 1 time per week, resulting in anticipated med non-compliance and increased symptoms, as serious as suicidality. Naturally, these clients are now being seen in the emergency departments and sometimes requiring hospitalization. This is hardly a cost effective budget cut. I strongly urge the legislature to consider this reality.
When do the taxpayers get a break? When do we stop being all things to all people. Hows does government shrink!
The discussion about public k-12 teachers taking pay cuts is rediculous. Alot of the teachers I know have to spend their own money on school supplies for some of the students in their classrooms. The representatives need to do their jobs and bring pawlenty to task and take care of our kids.
Rob,
Pawlenty isn't the one to take to task over education funding right now. Even with all our budget problems he's looking to increase K-12 funding.
