Secretary of State Mark Ritchie says the reports of people being dropped from voting rolls -- documented here throughout the day -- is a county problem. "Voter registration is handled at the county level," he told MPR's Tom Weber tonight. "With 3 million voters, there's going to be problems in the system."
He also dismissed a Minnesota Independent report claiming Somali interpreters were telling people to vote for Norm Coleman. "We haven't heard any of that particular kind of complaint and normally the election judges are pretty much on top of that," he said.
I think that the issues with the Somali interpreters are potentially a huge deal. With the somali community it is difficult to separate interpretation/transaltion from direct influence.
At least that is my experience with this group of people.
And who does he have on his staff who speaks Somaali who can actually verify they aren't influencing voters?
Hey Bob Collins,
I submitted a comment here this morning and you never okayed it. Why's that? I was critical of you and your assertions here. Is that why?
I don't see anything from a "Hm." I did see a post this afternoon that the software picked off as spam because of some links inside that said something like "Bob Collins obviously doesn't believe MnIndy" or something -- which is wrong, but that's another story -- and I approved that around mid-afternoon. Are you sure it was in this thread and not the earlier one.
I'll check around but being critical of me is fine. Nobody is required to have the same observations I do.
Ah, found it. You didn't post it in this post, you posted it here.
At least I think that's you. It's listed under a username "notBobC."
It would be helpful if you just use your real first name.
