The Palin pregnancy

The hottest rumor sweeping the blogosphere in the last day or so was the accusation that Palin's youngest daughter son is actually Palin's daughter's daughter son. It started with some research that showed that Palin didn't announce her pregnancy until she was 7 months pregnant, and her staff couldn't tell.

Close enough for Daily Kos.

I've stayed away from it for the last two days, the problem is I can't report the actual news today and ignore the rumor's existence, because it was announced today that Palin's unmarried daughter is five months pregnant now.

And this affects the country how???????????
More then this?

Biden told Israel to accept nuclear Iran

US Senator and vice presidential hopeful Joe Biden reportedly told Israeli officials three years ago that sooner or later they would have to reconcile themselves to the reality of a nuclear-armed Iran.

Israel's Army Radio reported on the remarks, which Biden is said to have made to visiting Israeli officials in his capacity as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

According to the report, Biden reaffirmed to the Israelis his rejection of military action against Iran, but also admitted that diplomatic efforts to halt Iran's nuclear program had little or no chance of success. In essence, Biden resigned himself to the idea of a nuclear-armed Iran and told the Israelis that they, too, would have to accept that outcome.

Israeli security officials on Monday expressed concern over the remarks and saw them as further evidence that if Biden and his running mate, Senator Barack Obama, win the upcoming US presidential election, Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons will be a foregone conclusion.

More then this?

I don't think I want to be a Democrat anymore. Such emphasis on gossip and tabloid journalism and behaving like teenage girls. Embarassing to be associated with these types of people.

Doesn't matter if it's her baby or not. She showed complete reckless incompetence in the way she handled it. I don't want someone like that handling our country. McCain is old and not in very good health, so there is a good chance she would end up in charge.

More to the point, how is it supermom had a sexually active 17yr old under her roof and didn't notice or didn't rein in?

Listen, for the record, I'm an avid liberal dem and NEVER heard this rumor abt faking a pregnancy until it hit mainstream press...So I did some searching and saw a vert few postings on a handful of very minor blogs. and most of those non-partisan. So how did this become something the dems do???

Bristol's pregnancy is irrelevant.

Another hypocrite in denial...

The democrats didn't start these rumors. This story was reported in Alaskan media outlets and on numerous conservative blogs way before McCain even picked her as his VP candidate.

Since Palin is a born again Christian, and she thinks that abstinence is the only form of birth control which is acceptable, her daughter's pregnancy must be immaculant conception.

I am confused. If republicans are pro life for babies - why does this rule disappear when it comes to war and killing people? Civilians form other countries don't count? Why is that?

watch what you pray for...
looks like it is just the beginning..
this is what happens when you choose personal aspirations over family...
it will get much worse..
but this is what the religious right is good for...
judging others for what they are ashamed of in their own dirty closets…
The God they have exploited…is making ‘herself’ known!
Don't mess with mother nature!

I too have a teenage daughter and one cannot be with or watch over 24/7. I am so glad that everyone on here has perfect children that has never done anything they were not suppose to . I think all a parent can do is try to teach them right from wrong and hope they learn from it. If not then you are just hypocrites.

So I guess that this announcement by the governor herself about her daughter's pregnancy is supposed to squelch the rumors. But suppose she did originally did cover for her daughter... what is one more lie, and what if -- wonders never cease in this case -- it turns out that they later allege that this newly reported pregancy ends up in an alleged miscarriage? If that raises any eyebrows it will be after the election in November anyway, right? For me, if the original rumors are credible, this well-timed "announcement" is not evidence either way. In the original rumor, people at the local health center would have had to have been in cahoots with the Governor -- and that could still be the case. I'm not saying the rumors are true, only that this announcement has no bearing whatsoever on their plausibility -- unless of course you for some reason believe this new "fact" -- but then why would you have believed the initial rumor? On the other hand, if they lied then, they are lying now -- and the "beauty" of it (for them) is that the truth of this new revelation is unverifiable, unless Bristol, unlike her mother, is actually showing signs of being pregnant.

What. A. Soap. Opera.

John McCain might as well pick Bozo the Clown as his running mate now.

I often ask myself why we cannot attract quality candidates for national office.

Then I read comments like these and it all becomes clear.

Who in there right mind would expose themselves and their family to this?

I totally agree with comment made on this website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/justinwebb/2008/09/the_palin_pregnancy.html

The ABC Newsblog mentions that "in an AP/Ipsos poll last October, Americans divided on the best way to reduce teenage pregnancy. Fifty-one percent said it was by emphasizing sex education and birth control, forty percent, by emphasizing morality and abstinence.

It is clear that Mrs. Palin failed in both of those - she can't educate her own daughter and yet she would impose her views on the rest of America.

I have to say -

I am so embarrased to be a democrat. Is this the best we have?

If Baracks' mother got pregnant when she was 17 - which she did - Why the hell are are making this a big deal? This is a 17 year old girl!

I haven't gotten the impression that the Democratic party had anything to do with this story. I doubt they are sad that this story came out, but they didn't have anything to do with it.

The only part of this story that worries me is the fact that Bristol and the father are planning to get married. I hope this isn't just because she is pregnant. It seems like that would be just asking for an unhappy marriage.

It is ridiculous to judge parenting or familial morality based on the choices and actions of Palin's daughter. She made a mistake- we are all entitled to mistakes. I think it shows courage and integrity on the part of the entire family that she is keeping the baby, marrying the father, and that the family is standing up for their daughter.

Alison: Anyone criticizing Palin's actual parenting are probably not parents.

Most parents come to realize early on what a crapshoot it is. You do your best, and you hold on for the ride.

It is alternatingly heartbreaking and heartwarming but never all one, or all he other.
