It's another topic suggested by our intrepid topic-maven Loran for today's 9:30 Coffee Break:songs addressed to everybody. We're looking for the word "everybody" in the song title, or prominently in the lyrics.
Songs played:
Nilsson "Everybody's Talkin"
Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"
Buzzcocks "Everybody's Happy Nowadays"
The Beatles "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and my Monkey"
R.E.M. "Everybody Hurts"
Van Halen "Everybody Wants Some"
"Everybody's Talkin'" Nilsson
Everybody Hurts - REM
Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears
Everybody -- Tommy Roe
Everybody Is a Star -- Sly & the Family Stone
Everybody Here Wants You -- Jeff Buckley
Everybody Loves to Cha Cha Cha -- Sam Cooke
Everybody Loves Somebody -- Dean Martin
Everybody’s Talkin’ --- Nilsson
Everybody Plays the Fool -- Main Ingredient
Low - Everybody's Song
Wang Chung - Everybody Have Fun Tonight
Everybody Hurts - REM
Everybody Ona Move -Michael Franti & Spearhead
Everybody Hurts- R.E.M.
Bob Dylan - Rainy Day Women #12 & 35
everybody knows - ryan adams
everybody's gonna be happy - the kinks
everybody's go something to hide except for me and my monkey - the beatles
.....and obviously the most awesome choice,
everybody everybody - blackbox!!!!!!!!!!
everybody's changing - keane
Leonard Cohen - Everybody Knows
Dean Martin - Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime
"C'mon Everybody" -- Eddie Cochran
"Everybody Wants Some" -- VH
"Everybody Wants You" -- Billy Squire
And the longshot...
"Working for the Weekend" -- Loverboy
Everybody Knows - Leonard Cohen
Everybody's Talkin' At Me - Harry Nilsson
Ev'rybody Wants to be a Cat, from Disney's Aristocats
"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" - Tears for Fears
"Here Comes Everyone" - The Wonderstuff
Everybody But Me - Lykke Li
Everybody Hurts - REM
Everybody Loves You Now - Billy Joel
Everybody Wants You - Billy Squire
Of course, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" from Tears for Fears
"You All Everybody" from Drive Shaft (the totally-not-Oasis band from TV's "Lost")
"Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" from C&C Music Factory, if you're feeling sassy
Junior Senior - Move Your Feet
Cloud Cult, "Everybody Here is a Cloud"
C&C Music Factory, "Everybody Dance Now"
Pepe Deluxé, "Everybody Pass Me By"
"Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey"- The Beatles!
Everybody I Love You - CSNY
Just checking to make sure someone suggested "Everybody Everybody" by black box! I used to play that for my son when he was two and he would dance (who wouldn't?!). It was his favorite song. I just told him this story (he's four now) and he said it's still his favorite song. (I bet he doesn't even remember it!)
The two I thought of first were
Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, Solomon Burke or Blues Brothers or Wilson Pickett--all great versions. Burke co-wrote the song.
and
Todd Rundgren, Everybody's Going to Heaven/King Kong Reggae, from his Todd album
great song: "Everybody's going to heaven, 'cause already we all been through hell..."
"everybody's Happy Nowadays" - Buzzcocks
"Everyday People"- Sly & the Family Stone
"Everybody Everywhere"- New Order
"Everybody Wants Some"- Van Halen
Get this coffee break started right with the Backstreet Boys. You should totally do it.
You should do it.
Everybody Everybody by Black Box, and play Everybody Wants You by Billy Squire.
Love Everybody -Presidents of the United States of America
"Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" Neil Young
"Everybody Knows" Concrete Blonde/Leonard Cohen
"Everybody's Talkin'" Harry Nillsson
and our requisite Beatles song...
"Everbody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey" - from The White Album, great track!
"Everybody" -12 Rods
I Love Everybody - Lyle Lovett
Everybody Wants to Rule the World-Tears for Fears
Need to put a moratorium on the Beatles for a while. Substitute the Stones or the Replacements or the Monkees or Cher or SOMEONE instead of the constant Fabs attack
Or not
everybody here is a cloud- cloud cult
Everybody Loves a Clown - Gary Lewis and the Playboys
Keane - Everybody's Changing
