The other night the Jayhawks were on the David Letterman show. Unfortunately, locally in Minneapolis, WCCO-TV played a commercial over the first minute of the band's performance — much to the chagrin of local Jayhawks fans (and band members). Oops! In case you missed it and wanted to see it, here it is below — along with the exclusive web video of the second song the band played, their classic "Blue" (check out Gary Louris rocking the 12-string on this version).
And here's our recent Jayhawks session, recorded at the Fitzgerald Theatre and broadcast over the Current.
WCCO screwed up the actual broadcast last week, cutting off Dave's band intro and part of the song? In all my years of watching Letterman on CBS I've never seen the musical guest get shafted that way. Especially too bad that it happened to a local band.
Why did it happen? WCCO should explain- plus apologize to the band and the viewers.
