Merriam-Webster defines booty as "Plunder taken (as in war); especially: plunder taken on land as distinguished from prizes taken at sea." Well, that's not helpful, is it? Sure, that's the "original" use of the word, but hasn't the other one surpassed it by now in popular parlance?
Today's 9:30 Coffee Break will be a showcase of some of the songs that have celebrated the derrierre, the hindquarters, the rump, with that awesome word. Booty songs, today on the Coffee Break.
Songs played:
Beastie Boys "Professor Booty"
Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears "Booty City"
Sly and the Family Stone "Loose Booty"
KC and the Sunshine Band "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty"
Queen "Fat Bottomed Girls" (DJ Z-Trip remix)
Booty City by Black Joe Lewis & the Honey Bears
Baby Got Back
Big Bottom- Spinal Tap
Fat Bottomed Girls (GET ON YER BIKES AND RIDE!)
Hey Ya!
Fantastic! Much more fun than I was expecting from this topic.
This Coffee Break topic must have been fate. I've had Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" in my head ALL morning.
So, that's my suggestion.
Loose Booty - Sly & The Family Stone
Do the rump - The Black Keys
Do I need to even suggest it?? Gotta have some Sir Mix-a-lot!
KC & the Sunshine Band - Shake, Shake, Shake
Well. Obviously you have to play 'baby got back.' You just have to.
Bob Seger Strut
"I do respect her but(t).....I love to watch her strut"
Brick House
Boodylicious
Surely Professor Booty from Check your head by the Beastie Boys would be a prime candidate.
Can we nix Sir Mix-A-Lot and just go with Jonathan Coulton's excellent cover of "Baby Got Back"?
[Shake, Shake, Shake] Shake Your Booty -- KC & the Sunshine Band
Rump Shaker -- Wreckx-N-Effect
Baby Got Back -- Sir Mix-a-Lot
Back That Azz Up -- Juvenile
Da Butt -- E.U.
Booty clap by Prince Paul on Psychoanalysis (What Is It?).
sounds kind of like Whoomp there it is!!!!!!!!!
yeah!
Honky Tonk Badonkadonk - Trace Adkins
Butt Machine - That 1 Guy (was featured in season 3 of Weeds on Showtime)
Baby Got Back - Sir Mix Alot
What a great topic! This should be interesting!
"da booty" tribe called quest
Queen - "Fat Bottomed Girls"
Sir Mix Alot - "Baby Got Back"
Spinal Tap - "Big Bottom"
kc and the sunshine band
Shake shake shake (shake your booty)
Obviously you need to play Baby got Back by Sir Mix-a-lot
"Shake Your Rump" - Beastie Boys
"Da Butt" - E.U.
"Her Against Me" - Afghan Whigs (think about it....)
Besides the obvious ones from the rap genre (Mixalot's "Big Butts," "Rumpshaker," "Whoomp There It Is," etc.), there is the very cheesy country tune, "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," and the tune "Baby Make Her Blue Jeans Talk." The Talking Heads sing, in (I think) "Crosseyed and Painless": "The wold moves on a woman's hips."
Did you know, by the way, that "badonkadonk" is a bit of slang onomatopoeia? If you have "junk in your trunk," that junk will rattle about when you go around corners and/or hit the brakes, making a sound like "badonkadonk."
Shake Your Rump - Beastie Boys
Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen
Big Bottom - Spinal Tap
Boogie in you Butt - Eddie Murphy.
Whats this?! A hunded dollar bill? I get to keep this hunded dollars if I be puttin' stuff in people's butts?! Really? Step aside!
Bubba Sparxxx - Ms. New Booty
I listen to the Current so I don't have to listen to "booty" songs. You might as well go all out and demonstrate how classy this topic is an play Ke$ha, Booty Call.
I won't be listening, however.
Feelin' On Yo Booty - R. Kelly.
Funny this is the topic, I just did a breakdown of this video on my blog. It's really something else.
Professor, what's another word for pirate treasure?
"Professor Booty" -- Beastie Boys
"Rump Shaker" -- Wreckx-N-Effect
"Da Butt" -- E.U.
"Bootylicious" -- Destiny's Child
"Da Booty" -- A Tribe Called Quest
Prince has a great unreleased track "called "Wonderful A$$" (not sure if I need the $s or not on the blog here), but I'm sure his lawyers wouldn't allow you to play it even if you had your hands on it.
Otherwise, I guess i'd go with "Fat Bottomed Girls" from Queen.
Beck: Jackass
Wesley Willis: I Whooped Spider Man's Ass
Weird Al: I Like Small Butts
Captain Dan and the Scurvy Crew - All About The Booty (I'm sure you'd have to find it but it's worth it for the "booty" double entendre)
Queen - Fat Bottomed Girls
Jonathon Coulton/Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back (JC's version FTW)
Spinal Tap - Fat Bottom
Moneymaker - ludacris and pharell
Do the rump - the black keys
ms. new booty
bootylicious - destiny's child
Raphael Saadiq - Stone Rollin'
(Surprised I'm the first to mention it!)
I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top - Elton John
Big Bottom - Spinal Tap
whatever the song is from Road Trip that goes along the lines of "shake shake that ass, bitch and let me see what you got." i would have looked it up but they watch what we google in my office and that would suck to get fired for
Booty City - Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears
My Humps - Black Eyed Peas
I second Booty City by Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears.
"Big Ole Butt" by LL Cool J - PS Dude who is upset about the "booty" music being played for a few songs without even knowing the direction they're going to go with it: LIGHTEN UP.
"Fat Bottomed Girls" - Queen
Please!
Rumpofsteelskin - Parliament
Ya know... You did mention it yesterday. This is a long-shot on a station of this caliber, but regardless: "My Humps" by Black Eyed Peas.
A Tribe Called Quest: "Da Booty," "Rhythm (Devoted to the Art of Moving Butts"
The Black Keys: "Do the Rump"
Play "PUMP UP THE JAM" by Technotronic! That can get anyones morning going!!! :) I tried calling almost 100 times to request it.... but no luck this AM.
Booty Call - G. Love
MISSIPPI - Dance Band. A direct address for local booty-shaking. The cowbell indeed rocks our derrier.
Booty - Erykah Badu
"Booty Man," by Tim Wilson.
Uses the word "booty" more than any song I have ever heard. EVER. It's pretty amazing.
Queen- Fat Bottomed Girls!!!!!
Black Joe Lewis- Booty City
These are have to plays
Booty Ooty by Johnny Guitar Watson
Really? No "Big Bottoms" by Spinal Tap? Booooooooo! Very disappointed!!
