Yesterday marked the 46th Anniversary of the first American spacewalk...
On June 3, 1965, astronaut Ed White became the first American to perform an Extra
Vehicular Activity (EVA) or "spacewalk." During his 20 minutes outside Gemini IV, White remained connected to the spacecraft's life-support and communications systems by the golden "umbilical cord," and he used a hand-held jet thruster to maneuver in space.
We will celebrate that first walk in space with "songs about Space" interspersed into my shift today. (10-3pm)
We'll hear Bowie, The Tornadoes, Kraftwork and some of your ideas...
I'd love to hear Peter Schilling's "Major Tom" - the German version is my favorite.
Lightspeed by Starbox.
Very long song, but The Galaxial Pharmaceutical by Future Sound of London is wonderful.
Masters at work "outta space": great 90's dance record heavily samlpled by major club djs as of recently. I've got the acapella on vinyl!!
Playboy in outer space - Dada
How could you not? it fits perfectly!
