Today In Music History: Kiss As Superheroes

Today in:

1975 - Cher and Gregg Allman were married. The marriage lasted ten days. Seems like a good occasion to haul out this image again.

1976 - Police raided Neil Diamond's house. They didn't find enough marijuana for an arrest, but Diamond did give them copies of his new album, Beautiful Noise.
1978 - Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols released his version of "My Way."
1981 - Jerry Lee Lewis was hospitalized in Memphis because of a stomach ulcer. After two operations, doctors gave him less than a 50-50 chance of recovering. Within a few months, he was back on his feet.
1994 - Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam testified before a congressional hearing concerning rising concert ticket prices.

History Highlight:

Today in 1977, Marvel Comics released a comic book based on the members of Kiss. The band members contributed some of their blood to the ink used in the books. The band's album Love Gun had just been released two weeks earlier, so it seems like a good excuse to play "Christine Sixteen" this morning.

Iron And Wine get inducted for the second time and making her debut in the

Hall Of Fame, Lykke Li JUST manages to hold on. We lost Beastie Boys after

8 weeks and Rogue Valley after only one.

Booker gets a nice little boost from his RTG performance and the power of the

CD of The Week stokes the Arctic Monkeys into the chart for the first time.

I'll have a pint of Dandelion and Burdock to celebrate! Try to stay cool and...

The Current Presents PAIRINGS: Beer and Music - Summer Beers!

Just in time for the 4th of July, it's another episode of Pairings: Beer and Music. This time we focus on the summer beer.

Chances are you're familiar with pairings. It's the prix fixe menu you might see out to dinner where the restaurant staff pre-selects each course and pairs it with wine or in more recent trends, beer. At The Current our appetite leans more towards music, but we definitely like our beer too. Voilà! This week on The Current Presents, we explore the pairings of beer and music in the second episode of Pairings - Beer and Music. More specifically, we take a look at summer beers and sit down with some local brewers from Summit, Surly, and Lift Bridge to discuss all the delicious beers you'll be drinking at concerts, patio happy hours, and when you're grilling out as well as the music you'll hear. We also chat with the winner of the Minnesota Craft Beer Week Best in Show home brew winner.

Listen THIS SUNDAY at 9pm and sit back, crack open a cold one and let us take you on a beer and musical journey.
