TV on the Radio Cancel Shows following death of bassist

According to the band's website, TV on the Radio bassist Gerard Smith passed away this morning following complications with lung cancer.

The band has cancelled a number of tour dates, including their stop at First Avenue in the Twin Cities.

According to the New York Times, Smith was diagnosed with lung cancer just after the band finished recording their latest album Nine Types of Light.

This is sad stuff. Just saw them in Boston a week ago... Great band, tough loss though. I'm sure they'll continue on the best they can in his memory.

Is there a way to access the Current in studio session that they recorded a couple of years ago? I heard a brief bit of it the other night and would have loved to hear the whole thing. So sad- was really looking forward to the show tonight. They lost a great bandmate and friend.
