In celebration of awards season in general -- and specifically the Academy Awards this Sunday night -- The Current will be going to the movies by spotlighting some of the best songs that have appeared in our favorite movies.
Starting at 4 pm on Friday and ending Sunday just in time for the red carpet, we'll play a couple songs each hour that were featured in a movie... and you might hear some familiar lines from the movie it was in too.
You can also follow them on Twitter: @CubeCritics, they'll be live-reporting Sunday's ceremony.
I am loving The Current Goes to the Movies! What a great idea!
Hey guys, I'm loving the movie songs too! If you are taking requests, I've got a few movie favorites...
Beta Band - Dry the Rain, from Jack Black in High Fidelity
The Pixies - Where is my Mind, from the end credits in Fight Club
Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit, from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Link Ray - Rumble, from the documentary It Might Get Loud
Booker T and the MG's - Green Onions, from The Sandlot
Kurayamino - Clubbed to Death - the Matrix
Sweet, thanks
Maybe I missed it, but: Hey, you aren't gonna go the whole weekend without playing that song about radio from the movie about radio, are ya? That would be FM by Steely Dan. Yeah, the song's better than the movie, maybe, but, hey, whaddya expect? Radio just isn't that photogenic, right? Maybe Pirate Radio would be a better movie choice.
