Help Get Eric's Stuff Back

Posted at 9:14 AM on December 27, 2010 by Steve Seel (8 Comments)

The big news that's got a ton of us ticked-off in the local music community over the weekend is local musician Eric Lovold's home studio being broken into and over $25 thousand in gear stolen. And most heartbreakingly, it's not the gear itself, but the music contained on it: several albums worth of material (not just Lovold's, but of other local bands as well who had recorded at his studio), plus every home demo he'd ever done - contained on two hard drives and their respective backup drives.

Lovold, a member of The Alarmists, has vowed that he won't allow the music itself to die because of this theft, but still, that's a ton of one-of-a-kind recordings that are lost. So help him get it back.

From the 808 Management blog:

Below is a list of the gear stolen from Eric and his roommates. At least three laptops were also stolen - I'll update the page when there is more specific information.

If you see anything on Craigslist, in pawnshops, or elsewhere, contact Eric Lovold or the St. Paul Police at (651) 291-1111 or via email.

• Mac Pro tower, serial number H00290G620H
circa late 2009. 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HD.

• 20″ Apple Cinema Display, serial number 2A6292A0UFZ

• Nord Lead 3 Keyboard (look out for a white and black Alarmists sticker on the back)

• Neumann TLM-103

• Two Western Digital Hard Drives: one 500 GB, one 1 TB

• Event PS6 Studio Monitors

Also stolen:

  • 3 Pairs of Sony 7506 headphones
  • 40″ Vizio LCD TV

  • Ipod Classic 160 GB

  • Ipod Touch 16 GB

Thanks for posting this - I read the article in the paper yesterday and was one part sad and two parts angry.
Here's hoping the music community here can track it all down.

Man, I hate when this happens and I hate the people who steal from musicians. It is about as bad a thing to do as anything I've ever had to deal with. I know bands this has happened to while on tour and it is devastating. There is very little security and I wish there was more involvement from the police and entertainment industry. Anyway, good luck Eric finding your stuff. I hope you catch these cowards and get some of the valuable material back. To the people who did this: YOU GUYS ARE BASTARDS and IT WILL COME BACK TO YOU 100FOLD. RETURN THIS TO ITS OWNER NOW!!! Nothing that belongs to Eric Lovold by right of conciousness can ever be stolen, lost or taken away from him. Remember that and nothing ever will be stolen from you. Install some video cameras in your studio dude. Cheap and effective. Also, get a freaking killer dog.
Peace.

Definitely not trying to hate on Eric, but how do you not have a home security system or cameras with all that gear at your home studio? Also, shouldn't data be backed up in some way?

I just hope it wasn't a member of one of the local gayngs. There seems to be a lot of gayng activity in this town.

Eric, my prayers out to you. Sorry to hear of this. May someone catch these thugs and rip their balls off. I will keep my eyes out.

Is it okay if I post this link on Craigslist? Will definitely keep my eyes and ears out. It's not right and with all hopes, it can be set right.

Stealing from ANYONE is BAD! Good Luck, Mr. Lovold.

Agree about the killer dog. Get a Great Dane. Sorry to hear about the theft and hope your gear and especially the music gets back to you.
