We didn't mean to be sexist in in the choice of today's topic - we were going to make it just "great dressers" - but then we couldn't have used that great title, above. Today's 9:30 Coffee Break will feature songs by some of the most well-dressed, or dapper if you like, men in music.
Songs played:
Leonard Cohen, "Bird On A Wire"
Roxy Music, "Angel Eyes"
Prince, "Sticky Like Glue"
The Hives, "Mad Man"
David Bowie, "Fashion"
Bryan Ferry
David Bowie
All of the National ['cept the drummer]
Prince!!
Leonard Cohen has to be included in any discussion of sharp dressers.
Anything by The New Standards
Gotta have "Look Sharp" by Joe Jackson.
Bryan Ferry for the win.
The Reverend Horton Heat always looks sharp in his rockabilly finery. 'The devil's chasing me' has some nice lines about old nick's tux.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones, They are all well dressed, They also have a well dressed guy on stage that doesn't sing or play anything. Just dances!
Prince!
"True" or "Gold" -- Spandau Ballet
"Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)" -- Haircut 100
"Modern Love" -- David Bowie
Madness was very dapper.
How about "It Must be Love"
When I say Sharon Jones and the dap kings she had on a fabulous blue sequined dress. Very glamourous!
the VERY dapper Madness
The Louis Vuitton Don: Kanye West
Morris Day & The Time!
Elvis Costello - Shipbuilding
Robert Palmer. C'mon, you know you want to.
Elvis Costello, Or should I say his real identity, Declan McManus international art thief. (30 rock reference) Yes, he's that well dressed.
Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys
The Hives
and a second for Bowie.
DeVotchka - Transliterator
serge gainsbourg
jimi hendrix
andre benjamin of outkast
pulp
bob dylan
q-tip
I second Leonard Cohen. The man never wears jeans. He always wears a suit, often an Armani. Frank Sinatra also has to be mentioned - a fashion trend setter who's hat collection was second to none.
I second Sharon Jones and her Dap Kings.
Duran Duran :-)
I want some SNOW!!!!!!!
Lookin' forward to the beatle CD thingy. Good going guys or (GGG).
I second Duran Duran - Girls on Film would be cool.
Hey, this was my idea!
Where's Paul Weller?
I am sure I am too late and you already have your list picked but Mike Mills and his shiny suits should be on here.
Play some R.E.M.
Stevie Ray Vaughn.. all the way.!
very best dressed man in rock-n-roll!
Japan - Gentleman take Polaroids
Kanye West, hip hop fashion icon:
"Louis Vuitton Don"
He's a regular at fashion shows.
He was once engaged to a fashion designer.
My favorite tweet from Mr. West's Twitter feed:
"I might bless the city today in an all-white suit... why not?"
