Jeremy Messersmith and the Story of Star Wars in less than 3 minutes

Posted at 12:20 PM on October 7, 2010 by Jim McGuinn

How weird that after years of building a career the old-fashioned way with great records and shows, that a leap to virtual fame can be accomplished with a nice tune and some construction paper animation? But that's kind of what's happening to our friend Jeremy Messersmith this week, as his song (and the video for the song directed and animated by Eric Power) "Tatooine" has 'gone viral' - with the clip being featured by Yahoo, BoingBoing, USA Today, and tons of geeky sci-fi sites. If you haven't seen or heard it yet - here's the clip below -

Last week Jeremy's "A Boy, A Girl, and a Graveyard" track from The Reluctant Graveyard got national exposure on the TV show Chuck, and his album was highlighted on iTunes.

Let's try to predict what's next for Jeremy... I'll start: Tonight a Twins-related song that he writes TODAY gets played at Target Field, picked up on TBS' broadcast, heard by Lady Gaga (baseball fan, who knew?), and he's asked to open for her next tour.

Leave your fantasy/predictions below in the comments section below... at this rate, who knows what'll happen next.
