The Other Hall of Fame

Let the mass debates begin! The nominees for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been released and they always cause a stir. We played three first time inductees tonight; Neil Diamond, Donovan and Tom Waits.
As Pitchfork points out;
"In order to be eligible, an artist must have put out his or her first recording in 1985 or before. And since Tom Waits put out his debut single in 1973, that means it took him 12 years to be nominated. Weird."

The other nominations are...First timers Bon Jovi and Alice Cooper, along with previously snubbed artists Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, J. Geils Band, Donna Summer, Chic, Dr. John, Laura Nyro, Joe Tex, Darlene Love, and Chuck Willis.

And the discussion started already via email, George from Toronto wrote;

"What is wrong with this huge repeated oversight on the part of the Hall? Rush possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. Rush's sales statistics place them third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band. Go figure!!"

Thank you George, any glaring oversights for you?

I'm not a big KISS fan, but it seems they should quit getting snubbed.

I love Donna Summer. Such an incredible, powerful voice. I hope she makes it- couldn't happen to a nicer lady.
