Today in:
1976 - Police raided singer Neil Diamond's house. They didn't find enough marijuana for an arrest, but Diamond did give them copies of his new album, Beautiful Noise.
1977 - Marvel Comics released a comic book based on the members of the rock band Kiss. The band members contributed some of their blood to the ink used in the books.
1978 - Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols released his version of "My Way."
History Highlight:
On this day in 1975, Cher and Gregg Allman were married. The marriage lasted ten days, but produced a rather infamous record, Allman and Woman. Good luck finding a copy, since it was just as much a flop as the marriage itself. So, guess we're just gonna have to honor Cher with "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" this morning.

(updated below)
Tomorrow (Thursday), a new Minnesota law goes into effect that prohibits tattoos and certain kinds of piercings for minors under the age of 18. It makes you wonder exactly what kinds of things happened that spurred the law into existence - Hannah Montana tattoos on 13 year olds? Regardless, we want to put together a set of songs that mention tattoos or related subject matter today for the 9:30 Coffee Break. Help us out.
Update: Some fine suggestions today:
1) Fountains of Wayne, "Red Dragon Tattoo"
2) Frank Sinatra, "I've Got You Under My Skin"
3) Pretenders, "Tattooed Love Boys"
4) The Who, "Tattoo"
5) Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, "Beat the Devil's Tattoo"

Last year, The Current celebrated the Fourth of July with a soundtrack provided by Prince. This year, we asked our fans what Minnesota artist we should feature this year, and you chose hip-hop artist Atmophere.
To gear up for the big weekend, you can check out some of in-studio performances here and here (oh, and here at Fakebook), as well as request your favorite Atmosphere tracks. Then tune in all weekend long to hear Atmosphere tracks, sessions, interviews, and a special "Current Presents" on Sunday night beginning at 9 pm.
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at The Current!
Update: Ant and Slug stopped by the studio to talk with host Mark Wheat on Thursday to talk about their upcoming Taste of Minnesota appearance the whatever else came to mind.
