It's the last day of our member campaign today on The Current, and we need your support to make these sizeable remaining goals. Needless to say, we're kinda bouncing off the walls with excitement, nervousness, and anticipation today ... and that's compounded by the generous amount of caffeine we're imgesting to keep up the energy. So, why not make today's 9:30 Coffee Break the 9:30 Espresso Break? Let's build a set of songs that are short and energized - two minutes or less in length and filled with plenty of caffeine.
White Stripes--Fell in Love with a Girl
Pete Seeger--Little Boxes!
Pixies - There Goes My Gun
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - First to Finish, Last to Start
Anything by the Ramones
Great topic!
Every song the Ramones ever wrote...except Needles and Pins.
Happy Boy by the Beat Farmers
Song 2 - Blur - although it comes in just over 2 minutes at 2:02.
Sun Spots by Bob Mould
Lovely Love by Jonny Polonsky (short and oh-so-sweet)
"Breakfast at Timpani's"- Reliant K
"Great Balls of Fire"- Jerry Lee Lewis
"Judy is a Punk"- Ramones
"Rave On"- Buddy Holly
"You've Got an Ugly Stupid Butt"- Strong Bad
Mystery Dance -- Elvis Costello
White Riot -- the Clash
We're Desperate [fits the fund-raising] -- X
Ramones:
Cretin Hop
I Don't Care
The Clash:
White Riot
Koka Kola
Song 2 - Blur
They're Red Hot - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Punk Rock Girl - ???
Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot
If I don't hear The Descendents' "Coffee Mug" I might cry...
"Five Per Cent For Nothing" by Yes on the Fragile LP. And thanks for nothing to my brother Hosey, who's copping out of The Hold Steady show.
Ramones-"Judy Is A Punk"
Talking Heads-"Thank You For Sending Me An Angel"
Hopefully NOT fitting for the pledge drive..
"We're not gonna make it" by the President of the United States of America
Some Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Tick off Fever to Tell
James Brown - Papa's Got a Brand New Bag
They Might be Giants: Minimum Wage (off Flood... I think it's like 40something seconds long)
buck hill-the replacements
Pretty much any song off of The Replacements- Sorry Ma...
"Bike" by Pink Floyd is short and silly, sort of like by brother Hosey...
Gotta do "Buck Hill" by The 'Mats, my brother Hosey lives around there! By the way, Hose, Nick Bockwinkle called, and he'd like to have his arrogance back.
Minimun Wage by They Might Be Giants (someone already suggested it so I'm seconding it)
Orpheus in Hades Lounge by Let's Active - I believe it's a pretty short instrumental with some nice wah wah, I forget what album, you probably don't have it.
OH and I second "Happy Boy" by the Beat farmers!
kNoizey, sweet AWA reference. There should be a pledge drive to bring back that Minnesota institution. Minnesota Public Wrestling Association.
Or not. Peace. Let the Coffee Break Begin!
Darnit, I came in late. You could have played pretty much any Guided by Voices song from the Alien Lanes/Bee Thousand years, notably something like As We Go Up, We Go Down.
Plymouth Rock - Lifter Puller
Canyon Killer - Rocket From The Crypt
Punk - Suicide Machines
I know it's too late, but I thought that would have been a great one!
