Tuesday: Frijid Pink, "Frijid Pink" (1970)
Detroit rock/psychedelic band, known for their awesome, fuzzed out cover of "House of the Rising Sun."
Wednesday: Queen, "Queen" (1973)
We played the Freddie Mercury penned tune "My Fairy King" from Queen's debut record.
Thursday: Curtiss A, "Damage Is Done" (1983)
Curtiss A is a Twin Cities music staple. He's best known these days for his annual John Lennon tribute shows at First Ave. He's been around the local music scene since about 1969 when he started his first band Wire (no, not THAT Wire). Next he was in The Spooks with Slim Dunlap and in the early 80's he released a few critically acclaimed records on the Twin Tone label. Slim Dunlap played guitar on "Let's Stop The Fight."
Friday: The First Class, "The First Class" (1974)
I've heard the song "Beach Baby" plenty of times over the years, but I never knew who sang it! I found out when I was digging through some records at Cheapo last week. I figured it was a band from California, but turns out it was a band of the UK called The First Class. They liked to wear white pants...
