Doctors are more than likely telling Dennis Hopper to take it easy while he battles prostate cancer. It's not easy to rest comfortably when he's in court in a divorce battle and now ordered to pay his estranged wife $12,000 a month. Dennis Hopper, fighting until the bitter end. Let's create a set of music around his situation, his films, ect.
Songs played:
Roy Orbison "In Dreams"
The Clash "Charlie Don't Surf"
Tammy Wynette "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"
Gorillaz "Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head"
The Byrds "Ballad of Easy Rider"
"In Dreams" - Roy Orbison
Candy colored clown!!
The Byrds - Ballad of the Easy Rider
Easy Rider... Apocolypse Now... Super Mario Bros.
THIS man is a true legend.
I second "In Dreams" by Roy Orbison, but would also suggest "Blue Velvet"--baby wants blue velvet!
Blue Velvet, of course.
Roy Orbison-"In Dreams"
Every time I hear this song, I can't help but think of the scene in Blue Velvet when Dean Stockwell lip-synchs this to Hopper...the facial expressions ALONE are unforgettable...
You're playing Gorillaz' "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head", feat. narration by Dennis Hopper, right? Right??
"Everybody Knows" -Leonard Cohen
"Born to be Wild" - Steppenwolf
According to his IMDB, he was in a tv show called "Sugarfoot" back in 1957. Also he has been working steadily since 1955... so how about Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55", which can also honor his role in Speed!
I have to say "In Dreams" &/or "Blue Velvet" as well, but also "Born To Be Wild" from Easy Rider
BLUE VELVET!!! His role in that movie is classic!
"Heroin" - Velvet Underground (inspiration for the book that the Hopper film *Jesus' Son* is based on)
"Speed" by Billy Idol (from the Hopper film of the same name)
"She Got the Gold Mine, I Got the Shaft" - Jerry Reed
songs that won't be played but must be suggested:
Bitter End - Dixie Chicks
Jaded - Operation Ivy
songs that might be played
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day
I'm Sick of You - Iggy Pop
Lost Cause - Beck
Quasimoto - strange piano (I drop colors like dennis hopper)
The theme from Super Mario Bros.
Warren Zevon - Keep Me in your Heart
What about "Wasn't Born to Follow" by the Byrds. It is a great song from a great scene in Easy Rider
In Dreams and Born to Be Wild. Obvious choices, but I think they must be played.
"Don't Box Me In" by Stan Ridgeway and Stewart Copeland from the film "Rumblefish".
Foo Fighters- I'll Stick Around ("I don't owe you anything!")
