This week on The Current Presents its Under the Influence, where we explore what may have influenced some of our favorite musicians & the artists they may have inspired or influenced. This installment it's, "the only band that matters," The Clash, a band that wore their influences on their sleeve. The Clash were influenced by everything from reggae, to rockabilly to New Orleans funk and inspired a whole generation to start their own band...I'm Bill Deville join me at 9 on Sunday for Under the Influence: The Clash!
Wow, can't wait for your show. Love the Clash, miss Joe a great deal. Mick Jones keeps going strong. They were a very talented group and it's funny to think back to the late 70's and 80's when they were making a name for themselves how society thought they were simply angry, crazy, and a dangerous group of people and how "normal" they all seem now. The times were different and their music was distinctly their own. I am a 46 yo professional and I still listen to that band every week and in particular on my way to play Friday night old man hockey....get's me all pumped up to skate just by listening....kinda crazy isn't it. Joe Strummer had an impact on my life, the way he performed, his belief's, and his total coolness was something I admired. I have to think this will be a very fun night at "work" for you! Love it!
This was FANTASTIC. Thank you. RIP Joe Strummer!
