With the SXSW music conference fast approaching, I was asked to be a guest on Kerri Miller's show on MPR News this morning. Even having been on the air thousands of times in my life, for some reason I felt a bit nervous being a guest on our news station. I guess I don't normally feel a pressure to be actually 'smart' when I'm on the Current (sorry, guys). Anyway - joining me was Jim DeRogatis, music critic of the Chicago Sun-Times, and our friend of very Sound Opinions (heard Sundays at 8pm here on the Current). The topics covered included who's hot at SXSW, whether or not artists need record labels these days, and what artists the Current doesn't play but should (be on the lookout for those Mastadon spins soon). If you are curious about any of these topics, or just want to hear me getting put on the spot, check out the audio below, and thx to Kerri and the Midmorning team for inviting me to be on.
