Everybody is jumping on the Viking bandwagon, even Prince! He penned a new tune for the occasion. "I saw the future," Prince told FOX 9's Robyne Robinson, who was given an exclusive copy of "Purple and Gold" the other day. You probably saw Prince in the luxury suite if you watched last weekends Vikings 34-3 win. Apparently, he wrote "Purple and Gold," right after he left the game. By the looks of the lyrics, Prince likes Brett Favre. ...#4 is in there a few times!
Here are some sample lyrics...
"the eyes say ready 4 battle/no need 4 sword in hand/we r all amped up like a rock n roll band/ready 2 celebrate every score/ready 2 fight the elegant war/ready 2 hear the crowd roar"
"r spirits may b tired/r bodies may b worn/but since this day is r destiny/r history - that's y we must b/4ever strong as the wind that blows the Vikings' horn in the name of the purple and gold"
Prince could have just rewritten "Purple Rain!"
Apparently, Jeremy Messersmith has his own Viking song he played at a gig the other night. I am hoping he plays it at Rock the Cradle on Sunday!
Minneapolis mayor R.T. Ryback has the Vikings and music on his mind as well. He has a gentleman's wager with New Orleans Mayor Nagin. Electric Fetus Manager, Bob Fuchs picked the 3 CD's, the latest by Brother Ali, Mason Jennings & the MN Beatle Project. Lord knows there is plenty of music for Mayor Nagin to choose from!
