Tuesday: The Clash, "London Calling" (1979 UK, 1980 US)
Look at any "best of" list and you'll find the album, "London Calling." "Koka Kola," a track you generally don't hear on the radio, "Koka Kola"
Wednesday: John Miles, "Rebel" (1976)
Here's a guy who had a fairly meager career in the UK as a power-pop singer-songwriter in the 70s and 80s - his two greatest claims to fame were being an occasional vocalist for the Alan Parsons Project (!) and Tina Turner's musical director on tour (hey, honest work is good work). But since Steve loved some of that 70s poppy-prog Alan Parsons stuff as a lad, the single "High Fly" from this record, he says, "was right up my alley." Produced by Parsons as well.
Thursday: The Polka Padre, "Twelve Original Polkas and Waltzes" The Polka Padre was Father Robert E. Kapoun, a native of Saint Paul, MN. He entertained the masses until his reputation was uh, tarnished in the 90's.
Friday: Hank Thompson, "A Six Pack To Go"
He was the "King of Country Swing" in the 50's and 60's. He toured up until 2007 when he was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.
