November 1, 2009 marks the end of a musical era as the Minneapolis landmark The Uptown closes its doors at its current location. The Current gathered some of our favorite Uptown denizens to talk about the significance of the place in our documentary "Last Call at the Uptown."
Seeing Music at the Uptown
We talk about some of the memorable shows that have passed through the Uptown over the ages and the effect The Uptown had on bringing new music to the Twin Cities.
What are some of the most memorable shows that you've seen at The Uptown?
The most memorable show at the Uptown for me was a Bell Koshka show. It was on Valentines day and I'd just gotten off of work and wasn't ready to go home yet, so I went there, feeling pretty cool all by myself on Valentine's day...
Well, I lucked out - I met an amazingly beautiful gal there who'd been stood up by her friend, so was there by herself too. We chatted and clicked right away, and have been together ever since!
So I'm sad to see it go, since it's were I met, Heather, my special lady.
Farewell Uptown Bar.

The best show I ever saw was the Wellington Tempest! My brother was the bassist and he passed away this summer. I am glad that memories seem to last as long as we are cognizant of our world.
Peace
