It's a no-brainer subject today, 'cause it's the end of the week. Let's do Primary Color Colorful Friday: yer reds, blues, yellows. greens, oranges, and purples. Happy shiny colors as we look toward the weekend.
(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes, Elvis Costello, My Aim is True
Orange Skies by Love - Probably the greatest Orange song ever.
All Sideways by Scarce.
It's off the Red EP. "Red's the sky, red's the sky and so am I" over and over.
Jimi Hendrix "Bold as Love" would do well.
The first one that came to mind:
Silver, Blue and Gold by Bad Company
Born Ruffians - Red Yellow Blue (Album of same name)
I second Bold as Love by Hendrix.
Or Yellow Submarine as part of the Beatles tribute.
Red Moon by the Walkmen.
How about Red-eyed and Blue by Wilco... a two for one
How about Blue Skies from the Stardust album by Willie Nelson!
The Dandy Warhols "Green" from the album "come down". Great tune for a Friday morning.
Kodachrome by Simon and Garfunkle.
"Grey Cells Green" - Ned's Atomic Dustbin
"Everything's Gone Green" - New Order
"Red Letter Day" - Pet Shop Boys
"Goodbye Blue Sky" - Pink Floyd
There's this song stuck in my head where the singer yells "Love knows no color", but it escapes me. Google was no help either.
little blue by the hang ups.
geez. why do i always have a hang ups song in my head?
"Song for a Blue Guitar" - Red House Painters (that's a double-whammy!)
"Deep Blue Sea" - Grizzly Bear
"Red Right Ankle" - The Decemberists
"Orange Sky" - Alexi Murdoch
"Color Sing" - Gregory Stovetop (every color of the rainbow in this one!)
"Bluest light" by bloc party! (I might prefer the remix, but both songs are great.)
"Orange Crush" by REM
"Golden Brown" by The Stranglers
And, of course, "Purple Rain" by Prince
Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog
"Red Rain" Peter Gabriel
"Green Shirt" Elvis Costello
"I See Red" Split Enz
"Yer Blues" or "Old Brown Shoe" The Beatles
"Pink Thing" XTC
"Orange Crush" R.E.M.
bright as yellow by innocence mission
The first song that popped into my (probably because I was listening to the album on my way to work) was "Code Red" by Tori Amos.
Other tracks:
Roisin Murphy "Ruby Blue"
Coldplay "Yellow"
Cowboy Junkies "Blue Moon Revisited"
Neil Diamond "Red Red Wine"
An entire rainbow for your consideration:
"Red Shoes By The Drugstore" - Tom Waits (Blue Valentine)
"Agent Orange" - Tori Amos (Boys For Pele)
"Mellow Yellow" - Donovan (Mellow Yellow)
"Little Green Bag" - The George Baker Selection (Little Green Bag)
"Blue Moon Baby" - The Cramps (A Date With Elvis)
"Purple Toupee" - They Might Be Giants (Lincoln)
Pink Moon, Nick Drake
Blue Velvet by Bobby Vinton
little red corvette. a cover version maybe??
Green Green Grass of Tunnel, by Mum
Blue, by Visqueen
Tori Amos "Code Red"
Coldplay "Yellow"
Roisin Murphy "Ruby Blue"
Cowboy Junkies "Blue Moon Revisited"
Neil Diamond "Red Red Wine"
Jens Lekman "Black Cab"
Soul Coughing "Blue Eyed Devil"
"Blue Angel" by Squirrel Nut Zippers
"Red Dragon Tatto" by Fountains of Wayne
"Red River Shore" by Bob Dylan
"Yellow Gal" by Leadbelly
Ken nordine - colors.
I can't remember if they are broken down by track, if so -i'd just go with red. But the whole thing is awesome.
Red Right Hand- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
and
Green or Orange- The Dandy Warhols
I think everybody could stand to hear more Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
The Rainbow - The Apples in Stereo
Black Mirror - Arcade Fire
Yellow Submarine - Beatles
When the Stars go Blue - Ryan Adams
Wow lots of responses today! This will be tough to decide. I see a lot of blue action going on.
I second the Bright as Yellow request. As for my own:
Pink Bullets by the Shins
O Green World by Gorillaz
Neon Rose by Solid Gold
"Big Red Machine" Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner,
"Blue" - The Jayhawks
Blue - Jayhawks
Red and Black by MOE
"Its Not Easy Being Green" by Kermit the Frog and Louis Armstrong
Pink Bullets by the Shins is a great choice too.
Red Rubber Ball by Cyrkle
Blackbird - either the original by the Beatles or any cover of it
Blue Moon
Purple Rain
cyndi lauper true colors
beatles strawberry fields
van morrison brown eyed girl
"Sky Blue Sky" -- Wilco
"Green Gloves" -- The National
Rocco De Luca - Colorful
"Yes It Is" by The Beatles......'Please don't wear red tonight...."
Gotta play "Red Rain" by the White Stripes from their Get Behind Me Satan album. There's nothing like ol' Jack's killer blues riffs to jump start a morning. Especially a Friday morning.
Purple & Orange - Welder
"She's Like A Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones. Awesome song with a crazy instrumental breakdown! And I think they mention at least 10 colors in the song!
Green River, CCR
Red Red Red by Fiona Apple
Off the album Extraordinary Machine. She even mentions blue in the song.
wait, I had a few more ideas! "Bright as Yellow" Innocence Mission
"It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" Bob Dylan or the excellent cover by Van Morrison
"Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain" Willie Nelson
"Red Red Wine", UB40
Coulors by Donovan...has to be the best song about colors
