Arctic Monkeys have a new album out titled Humbug and it is our featured CD of the week! We'll be hearing multiple tracks from the record all week including "Crying Lightning", "Dangerous Animals", "Dance Little Liar" and "The Jeweller's Hands". Humbug is in stores tomorrow, August 24th. For their third full length release, the Arctic Monkeys turned to one of their favorite frontmen to help produce the album, Josh Homme from the Queens of the Stone Age! Hailing from a suburb of Sheffield in the UK and formed in 2002, the band currently consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, guitar), Jamie Cook (guitar), Nick O'Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals). Having won both the Mercury Prize in 2007 and Best British Group for the Brit Awards in 2007 and 2008, the Arctic Monkeys have been positioned to be one of those legendary UK bands along side bands like Oasis. The Brits are simply bananas for Arctic Monkeys!


Hockey "Too Fake" from their new album Mind Chaos due to release tommorrow, August 25th. Vocalist and guitarist Ben Grubin and bassist Jeremy Reynolds formed Hockey in 2007 while they were both students at Southern California's Johnston Center for Integrative Studies. Combining the new wave revivalist movement with electronic pop, Hockey burst out of the Portland, OR music scene in 2009 to become cult favorites in the UK solely from the buzz of of a handful of live appearances and a well self-produced demo EP.

Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions "Trouble" from their new album Through The Devil Softly due to release September 29th. After the breakup of Mazzy Star, vocalist Hope Sandoval joined with Colm O'Ciosoig (formerly of My Bloody Valentine) to form Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions. Through The Devil Softly is the pairs second album after an eight year hiatus from their first release in 2001, Bavarian Fruit Bread.

Jay Reatard "Before I Was Caught" from his new album Watch Me Fall in stores now. Inspired after seeing Nirvana on MTV Jay Reatard, born Jay Lindsay dropped out of school at the age of 15 to pursue his dreams of rock n' roll. Jay created the Reatards, which initially was just Lindsey as a one man band. He eventually formed a three-piece version of the Reatards so the band could play live, featuring Steve Albundy Reatard on bass and Elvis Wong Reatard on drums.

Kevin Devine "Brother's Blood" from his new album Brother's Blood due to release August 28th. Brooklyn-based songwriter Kevin Devine spent several years fronting the band Miracle of 86 before releasing his first solo album, Circle Gets the Square, in early 2002. Brothers Blood is his 7th solo release.

Mos Def "History" from his new album The Ecstatic in stores now. An American actor and MC, Mos Def started his hip hop career in a group called Urban Thermo Dynamics. He formed the duo Black Star with Talib Kweli in 1998 and they became a huge part of the late 1990s underground hip hop explosion spearheaded by Rawkus Records. The Ecstatic is Mos Def's 4th solo release.

Phoenix "Armistice" from their new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix in stores now. Phoenix was the childhood creation of Thomas Mars, Deck D'Arcy, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz in the suburb of Versailles. They started as the backing band for a remix of Air's "Kelly Watch the Stars" single. Phoenix soon after released their 2000 debut album United. In 1996 Laurent Brancowitz permanently joined the band after the end of the short-lived band Darlin' he formed with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, who eventually became Daft Punk. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is their 4th album.

Sea Wolf "Wicked Blood" from their new album White Water, White Bloom in stores September 22nd. Alex Church, an indie rock musician based in Los Angeles, is Sea Wolf. Born in the small former gold rush town of Columbia, Alex attended the prestigious NYU film school, then settled in Los Angeles and formed the indie rock band Irving in 1998. He initally created the band Sea Wolf as a side project with a rotating ensemble of backing musicians, playing locally in Los Angeles and recording demos in Seattle with producer Phil Ek (Band of Horses, The Shins, Fleet Foxes). White Water, White Bloom is Sea Wolf's second full length release.

Vampire Hands "Invisible Stairs" from their new album Hannah in the Mansion in stores now. Colin Johnson, Chris Beirden, and brothers Chris and Alex Rose make up the Twin Cities band Vampire Hands. They've been playing together since 2006. Hannah in The Mansion is their second full length release that helped them recently sign with Canadian imprint, Secretly Canadian Records.

Wild Beasts "Hooting & Howling" from their new album Two Dancers which due to release September 8th. Formed initally in Kendall England as a duo called Fauve by Hayden Thorpe (guitar, vocals) and Ben Little (guitar) in 2002, they eventually were joined by drummer Chris Talbot in 2004 and changed their name to Wild Beasts. Tom Flemming was recruited as Wild Beasts' bassist and the band relocated to Leeds, where they quickly earned a dedicated local following. Two Dancers is their second full length release.

Zero 7 "Everything Up (Zizou)" from their new album Yeah Ghost which due to release September 8th. Grammy nominated duo Zero 7 are producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker who initally launched their careers in the music industry as tea boys at a London recording studio. They spent their early years behind the scenes producing and remixing music for artists such as The Pet Shop Boys, Robert Plant, Radiohead and Sneaker Pimps just to name a few. Their debut album in 2001 titled Simple Things, garnered them world wide acclaim. Yeah Ghost is Zero 7's 4th full length album.
