If you could cast anyone as the Devil, who would you pick? Ever consider Tom Waits?
Filmmaker Terry Gilliam thought Waits would be the ideal actor to portray Satan for his new film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Now that's something we can't wait to see. Only, according the Movieline, we may have some trouble actually seeing it - because the film has yet to find a US distributor. This despite the fact that it's apparently Heath Ledger's last film. Well then, the film must be awful, right? Uh, no - check out the praise-filled blurbs in the trailer below (lifted from credible review soureces like GQ, the LA Times and the Daily Mail - not exactly hacks from small-market TV stations). Unbelievable, eh?
So today for the 9:30 Coffee Break, we asked for some of your favorite devilish songs by Tom Waits.
(Updated): Your requests that we played:
1) "What's He Buiding?"
2) "Goin' Out West"
3) "Singapore"
4) "How's It Gonna End"

Today on Cover to Cover (C2C, if you will,) we heard Terry Reid's take on Cher's "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" and Yim Yames' George Harrison tribute, "My Sweet Lord."
I thought it would be fun to hear/watch yet another version of "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)." Apparently, this tune was relatively obscure until the release of Kill Bill Vol. 1.
Yim Yames IS Jim James of My Morning Jacket/Monsters Of Folk. Back in 2001, shortly after the passing of George Harrison, Jim recorded a handful of George's tunes that moved him the most. Those recordings have recently been made available on Tribute To. Learn more about the release or buy it directly from the artist. Let's take a moment to remember the original version of this tune, shall we?
