Did you see the new Transformers movie this weekend? It grossed over $400 million, making it a contender for the highest-grossing worst-reviewed movie of all time. (Our favorite comment from that Strib review was one reader who thought the movie was "a big bag of suck").
So, if you saw the movie and enjoyed it and wanted some more robot action, or needed something to redeem the word "robot" in your mind if you thought it blew, we made robots our theme for today's 9:30 Coffee Break. We aired:
1) The Aliens, "Robot Man"
2) The Flaming Lips, "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1"
3) Daft Punk, "Robot Rock"
4) Kraftwerk, "The Robots"
If we didn't get to your request, it might be because it had a nasty word in it. Oh if a song's popularity could only trump broadcast decency laws.
I thought the "Transformers" sequel was ok, but what I really hated about it was that all the female characters were completely stupid and/or unhelpful (ESPECIALLY the 3 human female characters). The exception to this was the 3 motorbike robots, who I think were supposed to be female autobots, but of course they won't be remembered in the grand scheme of the movie.
