Today in Music - Our Last Goodbye to Buckley and Lane

1944 - Michelle Phillips (The Mamas and The Papas) is 65.

1965 - Rolling Stones release "Satisfaction"
1973 - Murry Wilson, the father of Beach Boys Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, died of a heart attack at age 55. He managed the band at the beginning of its career.
1984 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band released their "Born in the USA" album.
1992 - The "Young Elvis" stamp beat out the "Vegas Elvis"
stamp in a contest conducted by the U.S. Postal Service. More than a million votes were tallied.
1997 - bassist Ronnie Lane of Small Faces died after a battle with multiple sclerosis at his home in Trinidad, Colo. Lane was 51.
1997 - The body of singer Jeff Buckley was found floating in a riverfront harbor in Memphis, Tenn. Buckley was 30.

This Morning, Matador Records announced that Yo La Tengo will release Popular Songs on September 8th. You can hear the first single from the album here. Yo La Tengo are currently in Europe on their "Freewheeling Yo La Tengo" tour.
