I am hoping it will be a good batch of 5 random songs today. If anything, it will give you motivation to compile your own 5 from your media player of choice. It's a win-win situation.
The Jesus & Mary Chain - "Taste the Floor"
I am hearing this band mentioned as an influence on every other band releasing music nowadays (don't get me wrong, I am an offender). I understand that many bands owe a great debt to their sound, but do we have to call every band that utilizes fuzz or distortion as "Jesus & Mary Chain-esque"?
The Magnetic Fields - "Boa Constrictor"
Speaking of bands influenced by the Chain, this is a short little metaphor song from the Magnetic Fields that does not sound like the Chain whatsoever. It's also just a minute long, which means I need to type fast.
Wire - "Perspex Icon"
A cut from the band's latest, Object 47, an album which made Steve Seel's top 10 list for 2008.
Okkervil River - "You Can't Hold the Hand of the Rock and Roll Man"
What do we have here? Will Sheff writing a brutally honest tale of how tough it is to be a rock n roller? Imagine that.
Blur - "Ernold Same"
More or less a spoken word piece from the band's Great Escape album.
The Jayhawks - "Blue"
U2 - "Like a Song..."
The Police - "Every breath You Take"
Benny Goodman and James R. Mundy - "Swingtime in the Rockies"
R.E.M. - "Supernatural Superserious"
One of these things is not like the others!
10cc - "Dreadlock Holiday" - I don't like cricket, I love it!
Guillemots - "Trains to Brazil" - Once upon a time a free download of the week on Itunes.
Office - "Wound up" - Love this band.
Junior Walker and the Allstars - "What Does it Take(To Win Your Love) - Great chill song
Gorillaz - "Dirty Harry" - A great track to listening to while making a homemade pizza in the kitchen!
Always love reading these Mac! Peace.
Let's see if it is better than last time:
1) POS - "Why Go". I have a friend that is convinced that iPods "randomly" select recently added tracks more frequently than others. Here is a prime example.
2) The 101'ers - "Keys To Your Heart - forgot about this song. FANTASTIC!
3) Iron & Wine - "Jesus the Mexican Boy" - not exactly Friday night music, more of a Sunday afternoon diddy.
4) Badly Drawn Boy - "All Possibilites" - Not bad.
5) Billy Bragg - "Goalhanger" - Well, I've got fill of thick accents with the last two.
I can live with this set.
1. Yello - Oh Yeah
2. Mott the Hoople - All The Way From Memphis
3. Eurythimics - Power To The Meek
4. Imperial Drag - Boy or Girl
5. Chris Isaak - All American Boy
