1919 - Nat King Cole was born.
1951 - Scott Gorham (guitar, Thin Lizzy) was born.
1957 - Elvis Presley bought the Graceland mansion.
1962 - Clare Grogan (vocals, Altered Images) was born.
1967 - Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) was born.
1968 - The Bee Gees made their US television debut on the Ed Sullivan show.
1972 - Melissa Auf Der Maur (Hole) was born.
1975 - Justin Hawkins (vocals, The Darkness) was born.
2002 - The Soundtrack album O Brother, Where Art Thou? started a two week run at No.1 on the US album chart.

Music History Highlight - It was on this day in 1965 that not one, but two members of The Flaming Lips were born: vocalist Wayne Coyne and bassist Michael Ivins. To commemorate the day, I played one of the less-often heard tracks (but one of my favorite Lips tunes) from The Soft Bulletin: "Feeling Yourself Disintegrate."
