Music History Highlight: Greg Norton, bassist for Husker Du, turns 50 today. Although Greg has enjoyed some musical activity in recent years with the project Gang Font, his life for the past couple of decades has focused primarily on the restaurant business. Today, I honor him with a Husker Du tune he sang the lead vocal on: "Don't Want To Know If You Are Lonely."
Update: Well, somedays I'm stupider than others. That's a Grant Hart song, and that's Grant's lead vocal. See, the problem is that all these years I've had the video in my head, and my brain remembers seeing Greg Norton singing that tune. This is what happens when you go on vague memories that have nothing to do with reality, and you don't even bother to fact check. Kill me. Anyway, happy birthday Greg! Hope you got a laugh out of that. And, apologies Grant.
Update II: Lord, I am an idiot. And clearly suffering from False Memory Syndrome.

My 3 Songs 03/13/09
David Bonk from Minneapolis picked this set because..
"These are my three favorite tracks from three of my favorite albums: Remain In Light, Second Edition, and Scary Monsters. All three have a paranoid- schizophrenic dance flavor that I find irresistible!"
Talking Heads - "Born Under Punches"
Public Image LTD - "Swan Lake"
David Bowie - "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)"

A couple of mine did this week. I never thought I'd see one of my fave new 'out there' artists Seasick Steve featured on a big web page like Pollstar.
They're also streaming the new Metric album, which is called 'Fantasies,' hence the play on words! There's an interview with Emily on there too.
And my mate 'Movie Natters' Euan posted this Kutiman edit album that has been making the rounds. This is like the idea of trying to put all your fave bits of songs AND videos together to make something new and wonderful, will it start a trend?!
Happy Warm Weekend!!
