Today's Music History Highlight: On this day in 1917, Leonard Chess, the founder of the Chess record label, was born. Chess Records was home to John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Jimmy Reed among others. Chess died of a heart attack on October 16th 1969, aged 52. It's hard (if not impossible) to pick just one artist to represent the entire Chess catalog, but Muddy Waters was my choice today, with a tune that Led Zeppelin aped to great effect some years later: "You Need Love."
