Accordging to Spin, the forthcoming record from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, titled It's Blitz!, will feature very few guitars and will be very heavy on dance-y synths instead. Choice quote: "According to the band, It's Blitz! was inspired by the '70s disco collaborations between Italian producer Giorgio Moroder and R&B songstress Donna Summer, Joy Division, and, well, Karen O's love of dancing."
Exciting or scary?
I have no reason to wholeheartedly trust this band with a radical career shift, but I do anyway. I'm picturing it sounding like the Ting Tings, only good!
Great album cover, great album title. This record could be huge.

As a huge joy division fan I don't really see the disco connection. I'm disappointed as much as I am excited. It seems there are few danceable guitar-based bands around, and now we have news of the "death" of one of my favorites. Hopefully it'll be a good record just the same.
