Do the Shuffle is back back back again!

Let's have another go at Do the Shuffle. Set your music player on 'shuffle' and write down the first 5 songs that pop up. My music library has expanded greatly since our last installment, so this should be fun. Let the games begin.

Franz Ferdinand - "Darts of Pleasure"
Nice, straightforward, effective number from Franz' debut. One of the thing that impressed me about this album when it came out was its consistency; there's really no filler, even deep in the album on songs like "Darts of Pleasure."

Beck - "Farewell Ride"
Guero wasn't a favorite of mine, but to each his/her own.

Santogold - "You'll Find a Way" (remix)
I thought her to be a pale imitation of M.I.A. at the time, but once you pay attention, you realize that Santogold is actually interested in the idea of whether imitation is actually a form of artistry. Or maybe it's the other way around. In any case, she has really grown on me over the last few months. She also changed her name to Santigold, which leaves me in the awkward position of whether to go back & change her name in iTunes. Kind of like the (Olympic) Hopefuls; should I retcon the artist name for these songs?

Jeff Buckley - "Last Goodbye"
What a voice, what a song.

Martha Wainwright - "Hearts Club Band"
What a voice, but a so-so song. She can pen some great ones, but the abundance of weaker songs on her last album is what kept it off my top 10 of 2008.

Glad to see the Shuffle is back again, Mac.

Eagles of Death Metal - Anything 'Cept The Truth
I love these guys. Keeping the spirit of the Stones alive while turning it on it's head a wee bit.

U2 - The Refugee
One of my fave U2 songs. I love the percussion parts the best.

Mint Royale - Blue Song
British remix artists. Got into them through watching "The Mighty Boosh" on YouTube. Noel Fielding from the MB starred in the video for this song.

Rob Zombie - Dragula
I love RZ. I think he's got a great sense of humor about himself and this song rocks so hard.

David Gilmour - Until We Sleep
From his 2nd solo album "About Face". Love the tremolo guitar part that drives this. Kind of a Smiths meets Pink Floyd sound.

Presented without clever commentary. Just know that I love all of this music:

Queen - I Want to Break Free

Rhett Miller - Point Shirley

Queen - In Only Seven Days

Wilco - Misunderstood

The Jayhawks - Dying on the Vine

The River is Wild - The Killers
I love The Killers, they're a lot different than other things in my library and it's nice to hear.

Aspiring Sociopath - Atmosphere
I'm really into hip-hop, and Atmosphere was the first "underground" group I heard, and I honestly fell in love.

Supply and Demand - Amos Lee
Props to The Current for that one. my neighbor lent me Live Current Volume Two and it opened my eyes to what I was missing. That cd showed me not only Amos Lee but also P.O.S., Atmosphere and Spoon

Death of a Martian - Red Hot Chili Peppers
What can I say? They're just good.

Girls - Beastie Boys
I am always listening to Beastie Boys. My brother and I shared a love for them when we were growing up and so when I hear them it always reminds me of him.
