Bonnaroo Lineup

Posted at 5:27 AM on February 3, 2009 by Jill Riley (1 Comments)

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Bonnaroo this year? I really love music festivals...seriously. The lineup is crazy good.

I covered Bonnaroo last year on the airwaves and the bloggin thing. I'm pretty sure I'll never forget that trip. Will I ever drive all the way there again? We'll see.

War Child's New "Heroes" Collection

Posted at 9:02 AM on February 3, 2009 by Steve Seel

The new CD from the War Child organization, "Heroes," is based on a cool premise: significant/legendary artists pick newer/younger artists that they would like to hear covering their own stuff. That suggests a measure of respect that the coverees have for the respective cover-ers ... not to mention a little pressure on the latter, you'd suppose.

Today I play the Yeah Yeah Yeah's version of The Ramones' "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" -- and wow, it's clear what a good choice they were. Check this out (clunky interface, but that's what they've got) to see all the artists and the tunes they've been appointed to cover. (The Hold Steady chosen by Springsteen? Nice).

War Child is a charity that "looks forward to a world in which the lives of children are no longer torn apart by war," and does its part to bring that world into being.
