The Washington Post's and the New York Times' photo slideshows on yesterday's pre-innauguration party at the Lincoln Memorial feature some pretty awesome shots of some of the musical performances.
The Edge, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois have some wine and burst into song.
This Day in Music History:
2006, Wilson Pickett died of at age 64.
1998, Carl Perkins died aged 64.
1993, Fleetwood Mac re-formed to perform at Bill Clinton's inauguration.
1980, 'Brass In Pocket' gave The Pretenders their first UK No.1 single.
1967, The Monkees were at #1 on the UK singles chart for "I'm A Believer"
1967, The Beatles began recording 'A Day in the Life' at Abbey Road studio's London, recording four takes of the new song.

I was so pleased to see Pete Seeger there. If anyone deserved to be there it was him. Too bad they didn't see fit to have Mavis Staples perform. at least not that I know of.
