Anti-socialite

Posted at 11:57 AM on January 14, 2009 by Christina Schmitt (10 Comments)

It's that time of year again...time to feel like an anti-socialite. Question: let's say you were invited to a fancy dance, but didn't feel like dancing, much less like talking to anyone. What song would hit the spot and make you feel a little better?

I'm almost embarrassed to say it, but I can't sit still for "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners.

I would make a fool of myself to "Babymaker" by Minneapolis-based Dance Band.

I found last night at the B52s' "52 Girls" helped a bit!

Christina,
was the show a drag or something?

Woops, I meant to write "that" instead of "at." No show, just a B52s record spinning in my apartment. And "52 Girls" made me dance a little. I'd dance to Motorhead, too.

Ahh. Yeah, i was just thinking that if it was a stuffy, fancy occasion, etc. that the idea of Motorhead coming on (especially "Killed by Death") would definitely be a "Right on!" moment.. like some scene in an eighties teen movie when the ne'er-do-wells take over prom or something...

sorry to keep adding my 2 cents, but while we're on the subject of the B-52's, I would say that "Song for A Future Generation" would definitely do it for me.
