Coachella Lineup!! Wow.

The lineup for Coachella was announced this morning. I went two years ago and had a blast! So, if you've never been to Indio, California... this might be the year to go.

Looks like Atmosphere and Cloud Cult will be representing the Twin Cities!

THIS DAY IN MUSIC 1/30:

1956, Elvis began laying down tracks at RCA Victor's New York studios for what would be his first album. One of the memorable tunes waxed on this day was Presley's version of Carl Perkins' "Blue Suede Shoes."

1969, The Beatles made their last ever public appearance as a group, performing atop the roof of Apple Studios at 3 Saville Row, London. The performance, filmed for the documentary Let It Be, was eventually halted when police arrived after neighbors complained about the racket.

1971, Janis Joplin, the pride of Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas, released her most successful single, "Me And Bobby McGee," which was written by Kris Kristofferson. The single was released posthumously.

1971, "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison went to the top of the U.K., and eventually, U.S., singles chart, making him the first Beatle to have a #1 single as a solo artist.

In 1982, Influential blues guitarist "Lightnin'" Hopkins died of cancer in Houston.

In 1988, Australia's INXS had their first #1 single in America with "Need You Tonight."

In 1990, Bob Dylan was named commander in France's Order Of Arts And Letters by the country's Culture Ministry.

In 1990, The Stone Roses, not happy with plans to re-release their single "Sally Cinnamon," trashed the offices of Revolver FM, their London-based record company, and then hurled paint on cars parked outside. They were later arrested and charged.
