Guest DJ Set 11-21-08

Posted at 4:59 PM on November 21, 2008 by Mark Wheat (1 Comments)

Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9) are playing a SOLD OUT show at First Ave on Saturday night. Their cosmic blend of jammy psychedelic tunage with a heavy dance music influence is a rare blend. On their recent 'Peaceblaster' they definitely upped the ante, big time! It's elegantly paced, as a true album should be, so we took a section out of the middle and created a DJ set from it;

04. Shock Doctrine
05. The Spectacle
06. Regeneration
07. Beyond Right Now
08. The Fog
09. Hidden Hand, Hidden Fist

Thanks to Dave Campbell for filling in tonight!

Next Week Fri @ 10pm; Ninja Cuts...a compilation of tracks form the seminal label that was home to The Herbaliser. They are featured on the set if you missed them in studio this week.

Pillaging the back-catalogs of rock and classical alike, New York-based electro-chamber band Vintage Fire positions itself on the cutting edge of genre-bending music and multi-media performance. Classically trained at prestigious conservatories and schools across the country including Yale, Juilliard, Curtis, Colburn, and Eastman School of Music, to name a few, but raised on a diet of rock, pop, and electronica, the musicians of Vintage Fire are equally at home on a concert stage, in an art gallery, or in the basement of a rock and roll dive bar. The Vintage Fire sound is a distinctive blend of music, video, theatre, poetry, dance, and artifacts from pop culture. Just don't call it "crossover".
