The Saturday Project

Saturday seems to be the day many Current listeners take care of projects around the house. So, I decided to take it upon myself to have one of my own. For lack of a better name, we'll call it the Saturday Project.

The feature kicked off several weeks back w/some songs from Dylan's latest installment of the Bootleg Series, I featured some live tune from the Clash, & last Saturday I played tunes from the Chuck Berry to celebrate his 82nd birthday.

Today I put "Thank You" songs on my "To Do" list as a way to THANKS for YOUR contribution to Minnnesota Public Radio and The Current!!

We'll be hearing songs from Led Zeppelin, Sly & the Family Stone and Sam & Dave, among others!

Bill, if you're ever inclined to air something besides just Sly & the Family Stone's music, consider giving me a call. My book, I Want to take You Higher: The Life and Times of Sly & the Family Stone (Backbeat Books, 2008), just came out, with Foreword by Sly and Preface by George Clinton, and I'd be happy to talk about it.
