Andy Slash writes today, "I recently made a mix of music from local artists for a complete stranger on a music message board. These are three of the tracks I chose for the playlist."
1) Daughters of the Sun, "Light As A Feather"
2) Atmosphere, "Smart Went Crazy"
3) Cloud Cult, "Washed Your Car"
See, that's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Two dependable local standbys, with a delicious frosting of something unexpected. Thanks Andy.
"Zoom in to the fuming of an aggravated breed
via the study of post-adolescent agitated seeds" -Aesop Rock.
Wordsmiths are my fav, here are my 3 songs:
1. The Beatles - Paperback Writer
2. Aesop Rock - No Regrets
3. Madvillain - Strange Ways
This was the tracklist for that mix, if anyone cares.
1. Spaghetti Western - Torino (4:34)
2. Heiruspecs - 5ves (4:35)
3. Mouthful of Bees - The Now (3:06)
4. STNNNG - Real Horror Show (1:17)
5. Chooglin' - This Demon Life (3:55)
6. To Kill A Petty Bourgeoisie - I Box Twenty (4:19)
7. Charlie Parr - Just Like Today (5:58)
8. The Brass Kings - Dynaflow (6:32)
9. The Gleam - Lock Up Yr Children (1:35)
10. Cloud Cult - Washed Your Car (2:25)
11. Daughters of the Sun - Light As A Feather, Stiff As A Board (demo) (6:20)
12. Dosh - MPLS Rock and Roll (3:21)
13. Malachi Constant - Achieva (5:18)
14. Flavor Crystals - Squid Ink (5:11)
15. Signal to Trust - Silver Coast (3:40)
16. Atmosphere - Smart Went Crazy (3:40)
17. Tapes n' Tapes - Omaha (9:43)
(the TnT song is not 9 minutes, but I put a hidden track of the KQ Yo Mammy guy at the end.)
About half of these tracks originated from one of either a Radio K sampler I got at a local show or a compilation disc they handed out at the MN Center For Photography's Musicapolis event in 2006, so this is more or less a combination and extension (read: ripoff) of those discs since I don't yet own albums by 7 of the 17 artists here. In the cases of the Chooglin' and Brass Kings songs, they're both on one of the samplers but were my favorite songs on their respective albums anyway, so whoever picked them for the samplers did a good job.
Anyway, thanks for picking my three songs for airing. Sadly, I missed it, but a friend sent me a text message saying she had heard them, so that's cool.
