Tom's Diner

Posted at 7:47 AM on September 24, 2008 by Dale Connelly

We ran a little "diner" medley on the Morning Show today, pairing Carrie Newcomer's "Betty's Diner" (a made up place) with the DNA remix of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" (a very real place). By pure coincidence, Suzanne Vega wrote an essay about the song in the New York Times today, describing its phenomenal success and how it stands at the intersection of several avenues of sonic experimentation and led to her getting the nickname "Mother of the MP3".

Noel Gallagher FINALLY went to the doctor seeking treatment for his injuries sustained during the recent on-stage attack. Oasis were forced to cancel more dates while he heals.

Another nail in the coffin in regards to a Blur reunion.

"My 3 Songs" for Wednesday

Posted at 5:57 PM on September 24, 2008 by Steve Seel

Amanda Dybedahl has a set today on the "theme of love." That's all she says.

But oh, how much you can do with that. Take it away Amanda:

1) The Beatles, "Accross the Universe"
2) The Darkness, "I Believe in a Thing Called Love"
3) Bob Marley and Wailers, "One Love, People Get Ready"

Hope you were strapped in for that wild ride. The tires were squealin' and the groceries have spilled out all over the trunk.

Amazing little tour of music there, Amanda. You get the rare "kudos from listeners" award too! (Seriously).
