Islands - "Kids Don't Know $#!t"
A more cynical cousin to MGMT, perhaps? My vote for best song title of the year.
Television - "Torn Curtain"
We seem to be on an arty bent today, with this moody closer to Marquee Moon.
Wilco - "Radio Cure"
The Entertainment Weekly review for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot always stuck with me, as it was the first place to point out those records that manifested themselves subliminally. This song seems at first to be under a general haze, but over time, little details begin popping out.
Fountains of Wayne - "Fire in the Canyon"
I brought this song up on last year's Musicheads discussion, and Mark Wheat instantly clutched his head in pain. "That's the WORST song on the album!!" he yelped. I haven't exactly revisited Traffic and Weather a lot in the last year, maybe I'm due.
Electric Six - "Naked Pictures (Of Your Mother)"
The winner for Funniest Parentheses in a Song Title. Only song in history to contain the couplet "I dropped the bomb on Japan/I was a hostage in Iran"

A "back to school" set today? Jacob Deems writes, "New year, new locale, and new local flavor."
1) Cloud Cult, "Chemicals Collide"
2) Atmosphere, "Shhh..."
3) The Hold Steady, "Southtown Girls"

Sidestepper ... Is a project started by a Brit
who had worked in Peter Gabriel's studio Richard Blair.
Then he travelled to Colombia to create a unique mashup of styles.
"The Buena Vibra Sound System"
Is a new album with a little twist. New tracks are added to old ones
and mixed continuously to produce a fantastic party thump!
We played...
02. Mas Papaya (Lightning Head Remix )
03. Que Sera (previously unreleased)
04. Me Voy Andando (Remix of "Andando" - previoulsy unreleased)
05. Deja Soft (Richard Blair Remix - previoulsy unreleased)
06. San Juan (previously unreleased)
07. La Bara Ratin (Richard Blair Remix)
08. Me Voy Tripeando (previously unreleased)
"The idea with Buena Vibra Sound System was to make a real party record," Sidestepper founder Richard Blair explains. "What we've tried to do is to erase the lines between being a live band and a sound system and to make real block party music with nothing precious about it."
Buena Vibra Sound System celebrates ten years of the Sidestepper phenomenon. During that time Sidestepper's shows have become legendary - whether as a full-on live band or going out as as the Buena Vibra Sound System.
"You could say Sidestepper is an idea of which I'm the curator," says Richard. "But I don't own the idea: I feel I've been entrusted with it. It's a platform for so much talent - and the new album takes us closer to the essence of the idea than ever before. "
