Home Is Where the Heart Is

As Mark Wheat pointed out yesterday, the debate continues about the "hometown" of The Hold Steady; even though many of us hold their local roots dear, we are willing to admit that the band itself came together in it's current form in Brooklyn, and thus Brooklyn is the proper hometown attribution. Still, here's the caption on NME's website for a photo of Craig Finn at the V Chelmsford festival: "The Hold Steady, Channel 4 Stage, V Chelmsford. The Minneapolis band ended their set with 'Slapped Actress', ending the song by singing the chorus a capella." Howabout "Minneapolis via Brooklyn"? (h/t mark wheat)

I was just debating this yesterday with someone! I think the late Lifter Puller gives credit to calling the Hold Steady a band from the twin cities. Also, the lyrics are rich in twin cities autobiographical folkore! Is that an oxymoron?
