I find this wording worthy of a second look:

"1991 - Axl Rose caused a riot at a Guns N' Roses gig where dozens of people were injured and 15 fans were arrested."

Find it difficult to imagine one person "causing" a riot. Kind of giving him too much "credit" arent you? And putting no personal responsibility on the actual assholes who really "caused" the riot. Dont know the particulars but maybe I'd say "incite".

A person can't cause a riot if the crowd (made up of individual human beings) is unwilling to participate in it.
